Richard is known as a hands-on, technology entrepreneur with a 20+ year track record of building, transforming and exiting early-stage technology companies such as Ensygnia, Swivel Secure, Mobix, SAVortex, Clearswift and Tumbleweed.

Previously at Mobix he personally led the development of an innovative and patented authenticated telephony solution for the banking and financial services industry. The solution, Authenticall, was sold to Swivel Secure after just 18 months and saw Richard being named Digital Entrepreneur of the Year for Security Innovation in 2010.

As Chief Executive and a founder of Ensygnia, Richard developed and patented world-wide a visual alternative to NFC called Onescan.

Richard holds a number of NED and board advisor positions.  He is the London Dealmaker for Corum Group (sell-side M&A).  He also provides pro bono support to early stage companies seeking seed investment with access to over 9000 investors globally.

Ensygnia has designed and developed an instant interaction omnichannel integration Platform as a Service.  This allows customers to use their smartphone to immediately react and engage with almost any piece of marketing material that has a ‘call to action’ – whether that’s ordering goods, registering for a service, booking a trip, making a payment or claiming a reward.

These interactions can be triggered from an email, a text message, a website, a poster, an advert or a sign inside a store, hotel, airport or restaurant – basically anything your smartphone can receive or its camera can see, can be used to trigger the interaction.

At the Mobile World Congress over 1500 industry leaders voted Onescan as one of top 3 the innovations most likely to have the greatest impact on the mobile industry over the next ten years!  Ensygnia also beat tough competition from AirWatch, CloudX, Metrical and SpatialBuzz to win the Mobile Industry Awards 2014: Best Use of Software.  Most recently the 2016 Fintech Excellence Award for Most Outstanding Secure Mobile Transaction Platform.

The company’s investors include: Gate Ventures, SixThirty, Olswang LLP, Jesus College Cambridge and Telefonica through its Wayra Business Accelerator Academy, 2013 Cohort.

Customers include: P&G, Panasonic, Barclaycard, BBC Worldwide, O2, Waitrose, Callcredit, Visa, Playjam and Sabre.

In his spare time, he enjoys épée fencing, Ceroc & scuba, is an active campaigner for the rights of vulnerable adults and mental health issues supporting Mental Health Research UK as well as mentoring a few individuals.

Also enjoys mucking around with molten glass, composing music, photography, painting and digital art.

Richard has a degree in Theoretical Physics from London University.
